Networks

IHP is an active member of several research networks.

The Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research (HPSR) is an international collaboration, initiated with WHO support, which aims to promote the generation and use of health policy and systems research as a means to improve the health systems of developing countries. IHP is a member of the network, and Dr. Rannan-Eliya, IHP Fellow, serves on the Alliance Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee.

Asia Network for Capacity Building in Health Systems Strengthening (ANHSS) was launched with the support of the World Bank Institute (WBI) during the world conference of the International Health Economics Association (iHEA) in Beijing in July 2009. With the understanding that the policy makers constantly require knowledge related to theoretical frameworks to help them think about policies analytically and time-sensitive information assistance to help address strategic and implementation challenges, ANHSS operates with the idea of assisting the governments in the region to share experiences and lessons and offer in-depth knowledge and practical skills training in the various areas of health systems strengthening. This network is the collaboration among nine national institutions and WBI. Link to ANHSS.

APHEN is the regional network of health economists in the Asia-Pacific region, which was established to facilitate coordination and collaboration between professional health economists in the region. IHP staff are co-founders of the network, and Dr. Rannan-Eliya serves on the APHEN Pro-tem Executive Board.

IHP is the co-ordinator and secretariat for the Asia-Pacific NHA Network (APNHAN). APNHAN was established in 1998 by a group of NHA experts in eight Asian countries to provide a mechanism to share technical experience and information to support strengthening of NHA capacity in Asian countries. Since then the network has expanded its coverage to more than 20 countries in the region, as well as the scope of its activities. Many of these are now conducted in close collaboration with OECD and WHO, including an annual health accounts experts meeting and an annual HA data collection.

Established in 2011, the Global Network for Health Equity (GNHE) brings together three regional networks, namely the Strategies for Health Insurance for Equity in Less Developed Countries (SHIELD), Equity in Asia-Pacific Health Systems (EQUITAP), and the Latin American Research Network on Financial Protection (LANET), all with expertise in research, capacity building and policy outreach in health equity, health financing and health delivery to strengthen the opportunities and platforms for researchers from the low and middle income countries. IHP coordinates the network participation in the Asia Pacific region in GNHE.

IHP is the co-ordinator for the Equitap (Equity in Asia-Pacific Health Systems) research collaboration. Formed in 2000, the Equitap network groups researchers in more than fifteen Asian and Pacific territories and three European countries who work collaboratively to measure and assess equity performance of national health systems.
